North Western Hall

North Western Hall

* NORTH WESTERN HALL IS NOW FULLY BOOKED FOR SEPTEMBER 2011 AND NO FURTHER BOOKINGS CAN BE TAKEN *

Location

North Western Hall is located in the very centre of the city, adjacent to Lime Street Station and opposite the historic St. George's Hall - and it is therefore a great choice for students based at either of LJMU's city-centre campuses.

The location of North Western Hall within the city-centre can be seen on this webpage.

Facilities

A former railway hotel and listed building, North Western Hall has been converted to student accommodation with 250 study bedrooms organised into flats of various sizes, typically containing between 3 and 6 bedrooms each.

All flats feature shared bathrooms and offer excellent value for money given the central location, although they do not feature a large communal area. Each bedroom contains a single bed and mattress, fitted carpet, curtains, noticeboard, wardrobe, hand basin and mirror, work station, desk chair and easy chair. The kitchen contains a cooker, fridge/freezer, table and chairs, cupboards and sink unit.

The reception is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week with access control at the entrance on Lime Street. In addition, the residence is equipped with closed circuit television. There are a number of public telephones and a launderette is provided for the exclusive use of residents.

North Western Hall is completely smoke free and students are not allowed to smoke anywhere on the site.

Costs

In academic year 2011/12 a room at North Western Hall cost either £69, £74 or £76 per week for a standard 42 week contract - or between £2,898 and £3,192 for the entire contract period. The most expensive rooms are slightly larger and have views on to St. George's Plateau at the front of the building. Rents include all utility costs, basic contents insurance and a broadband connection in each bedroom.

A deposit of £250 is required to secure the booking of a room at North Western Hall and this will be returned at the end of the contract period, minus any deductions for damage to the room.

Update at 15 June: A limited number of rooms are available for older or postgraduate students only - please contact the LJMU Accommodation Office for more information.
