Ex-sabbaticals Set Up Bursary

Two former Presidents of the Liverpool Students Union arranged a reunion for ex-sabbatical officers at the exclusive Royal Automobile Club in London on the 12th November 2009.

The evening was organised by Angus Edy and Ben Morton-Wright and commenced with a champagne reception on the private dining balcony before a three course dinner. Ex-sabbaticals brought memorabilia from their time spent at LJMU including the materials used to campaign for office.

The dinner was also attended by former LJMU Vice Chancellor Professor Peter Toyne CBE DL and his wife Angela Toyne. During the evening Angus Edy announced the launch of the Liverpool Sabbaticals Bursary to help future sabbatical officers whilst they are in post before everyone moved on to a local pub.

The bursary already has a growing number of committed monthly donors and Angus and Ben have plans to develop a sustainable legacy by inviting sabbaticals officers from each year to join the group and commit their support to the bursary.

A second dinner is planned for November 2010. If any ex-sabbatical officers would like to attend or are interested in more information about the Liverpool Sabbaticals Bursary please contact Alumni Relations Manager Mark Williams by email m.r.williams@ljmu.ac.uk.
