LJMU Sport Scholar Laura Malcolm wins gold for England

LJMU Sport Scholarship student Laura Malcolm helped England achieve their first Gold Medal in the World Netball Series.
England Netball triumphed as World Netball Series Champions with a phenomenal win over New Zealand in the final at the Liverpool Echo Arena. The series involved the world's top six netball nations, which in IFNA (International Federation of Netball Associations) World Ranking Order are:
- New Zealand
- South Africa
The World Netball Series was hosted in association with IFNA, Liverpool City Council, England Netball and the WNS Stakeholders and partners.
Following their respective wins in the semi-finals earlier in the day, there was a buzz around the Arena as the final approached and the teams were treated to deafening applause as they took to the court. An expectant crowd let out an almighty roar as the whistle blew and England were confirmed as Champions. IFNA president Molly Rhone handed out the winners' medals and a jubilant Jade Clarke lifted the trophy.
LJMU Netball star Laura Malcolm played her role in the competition helping England to their first Gold medal in the World Netball Series. Laura has received valuable support from her lecturers within LJMU PE, Sport and Dance department, her sports mentor Julie Money, her university peers and the LJMU Netball team.
LJMU Sport Scholarship Manager David McDermott said:
