The School of the Built Environment at Liverpool John Moores University is one of the leading providers of teaching, learning and business focused research in the UK. Our mission is to continue to provide high quality teaching, scholarship, research and enterprise activities to help generate business success and to create a generally more sustainable built environment.

The School caters for the needs of government, industry, local communities and professional practice by providing courses in: Architectural Technology, Building Services Engineering, Building Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Environmental Planning, Facilities Management, Quantity Surveying and Real Estate Management.

Close links are maintained with the needs of industry and practice through scholarship, research, consultancy and the provision for lifelong learning. These links support course development and ensure that all teaching is up to date and well embedded into industry and professional practice. Most courses are available through full-time and part-time study, and in some cases distance-learning options are also available.

The School has a strong record in business partnering particularly through the DTI Knowledge Transfer Partnership Scheme. The School has entered into business development focused partnerships with several local, national and international organisations. These projects are aimed at adding value to the business through the delivery of innovative solutions and the provision of a creative working environment.
