The Liverpool John Moores University aims to operate a responsible, caring, healthy and safe envronment for it's students, employees and visitors. Genral advice on Health and Safety policy in available on the LJMU Health and Safety Unit web site.
Local rules and reghulations follow and apply to all Byrom Street Campus based I.T. Centres.
Healthy and Safe environment
All practical efforts are made to ensure that all computers users and visitors are able to work in a Healthy and Safe environment. If you are aware of any potential hazards please report them to the I.T. Help-desk a soon as possible.
Computers users
Computer user should not :-
- Eat, Drink or smoke in the I.T. rooms.
- Iterefere with any computer hardware or cabling.
- Remove any equipment.
Evacuation procedures
During and an emergency an evacuation the siren will sound. All users are expected to leave the building as quickly and as safely as possible and to assemble at the desginated evacuation points.
- Do not use the lifts.
- Stand well clear of the building.
- Do not return to the building until you have been told to do so by the Safety Officer.
Students with disabilities
Students with disabilities, such as mobility or vision, should make themselves known at the I.T. Help-desk. Informed staff will notify them of relevant local evacuation procedures and the nearest refuge point in the event of an emergency evacuation. It is the responsibity of each user to ensure they have an personal evacuation plan [PEP] for the safe exit from all areas they visit. Further advice can be obtained from Student Welfare.
First Aiders
Students who require emergency treatment, a list of first Aiders is avaiable at the I.T. Help-desk.
