Study Programmes in Health and Social care Informatics.
In addition to the programmes of studies offered in Health related subject disciplines, we offer joint conversion courses which allows graduates the opportunity to develop expertise in using, designing and managing IT systems. Thus resulting in us providing staff for the NHS who are able to deal with the increasing technological side of their business.
The Faculty of Health and Applied Social Sciences offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate taught courses for nurses and other health care professionals and is a major provider of pre- and post-registration nurse education in Merseyside. This reflects the University’s commitment to a broad approach to health and healthcare encompassing environmental, social and medical aspects, in order to develop the best mechanisms for protecting and improving the quality of life of the population.
Postgraduate Qualifications in Research
The following postgraduate research qualifications are offered on a full and part-time basis:
• Masters in Research
• M.Phil
• Ph.D
• Professional Doctorate
Success rates for higher degree completions are well above the national average, which reflects the priority and commitment to student support. Students have access to a wide range of University training courses and are advised individually on an appropriate programme. In particular the Masters in Research, a University-wide programme has been particularly recommended for healthcare professionals by the UK Council for Higher Education in the Healthcare professions to provide grounding in research methods prior to embarking upon more independent research. E-learning course are available currently, for example: Mentorship in HealthCare Practice and, specific technology related material can be accessed through the Technology and Environment faculty.
