IM Marsh Campus
Welcome to the IM Marsh Campus
The IM Marsh Campus is home to the Faculty of Education, Community and Leisure, and is based in the green suburb of Aigburth in South Liverpool.

All our sports facilities are operated by Marsh Sports, however, if you wish to hire any of our facilities, please contact Marsh Sports in the first instance.
Student Village
Our student village consists of the refectory, open 9 - 3 during term time and the Liverpool Students' Union shop.
Parking on Campus
Parking in the north car park (entry is restricted by a barrier) is restricted to permit holders between the hours of 8am to 5pm.
We recommend that students living on site do not bring a car with them due to the close proximity of local amenities, and the amount of public transport available in the area.
Visitors to the campus can park in the south car park (entrance on Holmefield Road); parking is free.

Air
Our local airport is Liverpool John Lennon Airport which is located 4.5 miles from the campus and is on the 82 bus route.
How to get to Liverpool John Lennon Airport
Train
The City Line is the name given to local rail routes out of Liverpool Lime Street station. It covers the Liverpool-Wigan Line as well as the two routes of the Liverpool-Manchester Line. Two stations on this line are located approximately one mile from the campus:
- Mossley Hill station is situated on Rose Lane and managed by Northern Rail. There is a roughly half-hourly service between Liverpool Lime Street and Manchester Oxford Road operated by Northern Rail, and peak-hour trains between Lime Street, Crewe and Birmingham operated by London Midland also stop here. Services are less frequent in the evenings and on Sundays.
Liverpool John Morres have commissioned active travel walks from the IM Marsh campus to Mossley Hill Train Station. - West Allerton station is situated on Booker Avenue and serves the suburb of Allerton. This station, and all trains serving it, are managed by Northern Rail. Services are roughly hourly in each direction, towards Mossley Hill and Liverpool Lime Street to the west and towards Liverpool South Parkway and Manchester Oxford Road in the east. Extra service stop during peak periods.
The Northern Line connects the centre of Liverpool with Hunts Cross to the south and Southport, Ormskirk and Kirkby to the north. One station on this line is located approximately half a mile from the campus.
- Aigburth station is situated on Mersey Road and serves the Aigburth district of Liverpool. It is situated on the Southport-Hunts Cross route of the Northern Line of the Merseyrail suburban system. Trains operate every 15 minutes, Monday-Saturday to Southport via Liverpool Central to the north, and Hunts Cross to the south. On Sundays, services are every 30 minutes in each direction.

Bus
Our local bus service is the 82, which runs from Queen Square bus station into Liverpool South Parkway. There is a bus stop at the bottom of Barkhill Road on Aigburth Road.
Shuttle Bus
The University operates a free (with your student card) shuttle bus service which runs between all six faculties and LRCs. Timetables are on display at all the main sites. Local AmenitiesThe Campus is located in a suburban area, but is in by no means disadvantaged in terms of local amenities. In particular, we have:
- The New Mersey Retail Park including big names such as Marks and Spencers, Borders, HMV, Boots, Next, Dorothy Perkins, Burtons, Comet and many more...
- Allerton Road is the local shopping district and includes names such as Tesco, Subway, WHSmith,Blockbusters, an Odeon Cinema, several bars and restaurants, and the majority of the main high street banks are represented.
- Liverpool Cricket Club is on Aigburth Road along the bottom of the campus.
- Tesco Express is within a 10-15 minute walk of the campus, with the main Tesco a further 5 minutes up the road in the Allerton Road area.
Local Attractions
Local attractions include:
- 20 Forthlin Road, Allerton - The Childhood home of music icon Sir Paul McCartney.
- Mendips - Childhood home of 20th-Century icon John Lennon.
- Speke Hall, Garden and Estate - Superb Tudor house with rich interiors, along with fine gardens and estate.
- Penny Lane - made famous by the Beatles song of the same name, located off the Allerton Road / Smithdown Road junction.
- Strawberry Fields - made famous by the Beatles song of the same name, located off Menlove Avenue.
- Sefton Park - Liverpool's largest public park is located just off Aigburth Road, approximately a 15 minute walk from the campus. It also boosts the Palm House, a listed building in itself.
- Cressington and Grassendale promenades are located just off St. Mary's Road amoungst magnificent Victorian houses and overlooks the River Mersey.
