Clare Caffrey
Clare is the Work Related Learning (WRL) Unit Manager at the Faculty of Education, Community and Leisure. Clare manages a team whose main focus includes arranging and supporting the Faculty’s student work placements within businesses and schools and ensuring that the CRB requirements for students are met. The team works with many external organisations and schools in addition to colleagues across the Faculty and organises placements each year for more than 2000 students, many of whom require multiple placements. The success of the team owes much to our partner schools and organisations within the public and private sectors which host student placements, ensuring that our students gain the relevant experience they need for their future success. Work Related Learning is central to the ethos of the JMU+ initiative and LJMU’s commitment to student employability.
There are a wide number of programmes and subject areas on which students undertake placements at various periods throughout the year and prospective placement hosts are invited to contact Clare or the team if they feel that they are able to offer a suitable work placement or would like to find out more about what is involved.
