Welcome to Outdoor Education at LJMU
Brief History
Welcome to Outdoor Education at Liverpool John Moores University. Outdoor Education at IM Marsh has maintained an international reputation as a quality provider of Outdoor Education programmes in higher education since the late 1960s. In 1998 the BSc (Hons) Outdoor & Environmental Education undergraduate programme for 100 students was validated to replace the existing QTS programme. In October 2001 the BSc (Hons) Outdoor & Environmental Education undergraduate programme was awarded 24/24 points in the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education's (QAA) Subject Review (Unit 25: Sport, Hospitality, Leisure and Tourism) - a result of which we are very proud. This makes it the highest quality rated UK outdoor education programme.
In 2006 we validated: BSc (Hons) Outdoor Education with Environmental Education, BA (Hons) Outdoor Education with Adventure Tourism, and BA (Hons) Outdoor Education with Physical Education to start their first intake in Sep-07. These programmes belong to The Centre for Sport, Dance & Outdoor Education, one of five Centres within the Faculty of Education, Community & Leisure at Liverpool John Moores University. In 2010 Outdoor Education at I.M.Marsh celebrated 40 years (1970-2010).
