Pauline Brooks

Pauline as a senior lecturer in Dance is involved in creative research involving LJMU dance students which to date has been presented at international conferences on Dance, Technology and Pedagogy in the UK, USA and Malaysia. She is currently collaborating with Temple University in Philadelphia on joint research in dance and technology, bringing students from both universities together weekly via webcam links to create new work for the theatre and the virtual performance arena. Her research in this area has resulted in a 2009 LJMU Curriculum Innovations Award. She has been awarded a number of sabbaticals by LJMU CETL, (Centre of excellence in Teaching and Learning) to develop the area of dance and technology for the Dance Department. In 2004 she was made a LJMU Teaching Fellow in recognition to her contributions to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and learning at the university.
Previous to LJMU, she performed with Nexus Dance Theatre (Scotland), Springs Dance Co. (England), Ann Vachon/Dance Conduit and Sybil Dance Co. (USA) She has choreographed and taught extensively in the UK and overseas, including posts at Temple and Clarion Universities in America, as well as with Lectureships at Aberdeen and Edinburgh Universities. Her work in the community includes the post of Dance Artist in Residence in Scotland for Stirling District Council -- where she was active nationally as Chair of Community Dance Scotland and the Scottish Youth Festival.
