Angela Walton

Angie joined the faculty in 2009 as a senior lecturer. Her focus and teaching is in Dance Making, Studio Practice and Community Dance. As Dance Artist in Residence at LJMU in 2005, she directed JMUpstart Dance Company to becoming a nationally touring company with the dance department.  She led an innovative model of dance in Higher Education awarded by the Centre of Excellence in Teaching and Learning and Liverpool John Moores University. Her research to date has focused on: curriculum innovation in relation to the employability of a dance student using JMUpstart as a model and approaches in assessing creativity. Her research interest in combining somatic and orthodox principles in movement exploration has led her to pursue further development in Feldenkrais method.  She is exploring the integration of somatic principles into the delivery of dance making and studio practice.  Angie has performed extensively as a member of Transitions and has enjoyed working with diverse artists as Claude Brumchon (Europe), Merissa Zonetti, Lea-Anderson, Duncan McFarland (USA) and Karen Greenough.  She has taught and been a member of faculty at Laban Centre and created works for London Studio Centre, Millennium, Lewisham College and Laban Centre.  As a member of Rambert Dance Company Education for over 10 years, Angie led many of their innovative projects collaborating with London Symphonia, Birmingham Royal Ballet and London Musici.  Her company 4tet is based at LJMU.
