Non-Cognitive Assessment (NCA)

In line with Government guidelines, applicants for teacher training courses will be expected to undertake an online Non-Cognitive Assessment (NCA) prior to attending interview.

The Department for Education now require ITT providers to include behavioural assessment of trainee teachers as part of their selection. NCA tools measure behaviour rather than intellect. They provide valuable information on work styles and attributes such as resilience, interpersonal skills, adaptability, communication and organisation. Should an applicant be successful at interview, the feedback from the assessment will be used to support their on-going development as a trainee teacher.
