Facilities
The School of Engineering, Technology and Maritime Operations offers world class facilities to engineers, technologists and maritime professionals. The School supports a well equipped engineering workshops (approved by the MCA), and the full range of thermo-fluids, materials, manufacturing, and electronics and power laboratories. The School has its own high performance computing infrastructure designed to support FEA and CFD analysis and CAD. Students have full access to industry standard software includes: SolidWorks, Ansys, Abacus, MathCAD, Matlab and Dymola.
The Liverpool Maritime Academy offers world class simulation and training laboratories. It’s ship-handling simulator facility is amongst the most advanced in Europe and currently the only one in the UK with a full 360° field-of-view. It is able to provide world class training and development to train: marine pilots, shipmasters and senior navigating officers within a realistic but risk free environment. The facility can also be used to assess the feasibility of new port developments, to investigate offshore operations in the oil and gas industry, and in accident investigation.
