EUE (Electronic and Ultrasonic Engineering)

Electronic and Ultrasonic Engineering (EUE) is a new group formed in GERI in 2008. However the foundations of the group go back over 30 years from the genesis of the Coherent and Electro-Optics Research Group at LJMU. Electronic Engineering has always been used in instrumentation developed by GERI and historically has produced some novel electronic processors for signal processing of acquired signals. This has included Laser Doppler real-time image processing in the 1980s, Transputers and parallel DSP image processors in the 1980s-1990s, self testing and reconfigurable hardware through the millennium. For over twelve years, since 1996, members of the group have been substantially involved in working with small companies through the EU European Regional Development Programme via four technology transfer centres. Since 2002 the group has established research in ultrasonic engineering through two EPSRC grants. As the group develops we have a wide range of interests, but presently focus on the design, testing and signal processing applications of electronic and ultrasound technologies.
