GERI

Welcome to the website of the General Engineering Research Institute (GERI)

 PIE AMTRELCEORGEUE

The Institute is based within Liverpool John Moores University and is active in a variety of fields ranging from optical metrology, advanced manufacturing technology, radio-frequency & microwave research to electronics, image processing and mechanical engineering.

Currently between 40 and 50 full and part time members work in the institute.

GERI consists of four main groups of collaborative researchers;

The Institute was awarded a Grade 5 in both the 1996 and 2001 Research Assessment Exercises, which are performed by the U.K. Government. This acknowledges work of an international standard of excellence.

In the latest RAE2008 the Institute received a quality profile with a weighted average score of 2.7 in the General Engineering Unit of Assessment (UoA).  This rated 20% of GERI’s research as being world-leading, whilst another 40% was viewed as being internationally excellent, with a further 30% ranked as being of international standard and the remaining 10% of a national standard. Hence 60% of all GERI’s research is deemed to be of internationally excellent, or higher, quality.

Researchers and other professionals are welcome to visit the Institute by prior arrangement.
