Biography: March 2006 - Qualified Mental Health Nurse registered with the Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC).

October 2008 - Postgraduate certificate in Community Development Work (Black and Minority Ethnic Mental Health)

Ongoing  -  Public Health masters (International Development).

I have significant experience within the field of mental health nursing and specialist knowledge related to psychiatric needs of Black and Minority Ethnic communities, especially refugees and asylum seekers whom already suffer from the effects of torture or bereavement.

Approved National Trainer for Race Equality and cultural competence. January 2009 to December 2010 I was responsible for implementing the programme that aimed to improve mental health service for Black and Minority Ethnic service users.  Participated in designing national and local programmes that aimed to tackle discrimination and mental health inequalities. 

Substantial and in depth knowledge of public policy in mental health; health inequalities, human rights, equality and diversity, health and social care and the third sector, and work to enable and support change or develop a successful strategy for change.

Knowledge and expertise from a wide range of experience add value to existing Mental Health Nursing programme.

5 years’ experience working in mental health in primary, and secondary care settings.  

Wealth of experience working in the field of public health with specific programmes focusing on increasing life expectancy, by supporting and redesign of priority pathways with a greater focus on prevention, early intervention and optimum health outcomes for major health challenges for adults; and reduction in inequalities in mental health by supporting the delivery of outcomes targeted at those with the poorest health. 

My ambition and passion is to improve patient experience, positive contribution or influence on government policies and strategies and health care research and development both as a field mental health nurse and as a lecturer or project coordinator.
