Child Advanced Practice
Senior Lecturer Lead in Advanced Paediatric Practitioner Ambulatory
I am a registered nurse (Child Branch Diploma); a BA (Hons) Specialist Nursing Practice health visitor and an Msc Advanced Paediatric Nurse practitioner.
My background is predominantly in paediatric community nursing where I have done a variety of roles over the last 12 years in the community. I qualified in 1996 and worked in Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, before moving into the field of neonates. For the last 12 years or more I have worked in the community in complex care, health visiting and in my current role as an Advanced Paediatric Nurse Practitioner. I currently work with the university half time, and continue in my role 14 hours a week as a paediatric community matron, looking after children with respiratory needs to work towards keeping them out of hospital.
I have been a sessional and honary lecturer for LJMU for the last 3 years on the MSc Advanced Paediatric Nurse Practitioner pathway.
I have also taught at Chester University on the Child Health branch and at Stafford University on the Health Visiting pathway as a sessional lecturer.
My research interest to date is looking at evidence based practice as an effective form of assessment to aiding towards changing clinical practice.
