Biography:

Kate is a registered nurse (child branch) with BA (Hons) Nursing from Liverpool John Moores University.  She is a full time Child Nursing Lecturer and is the Programme Leader for the pre-registration Child Nursing BA/BSc.

She has worked in paediatric orthopaedics and Paediatric Intensive Care Unit both within Alder Hey children’s hospital.

She completed a Masters of Research (Health Sciences) in 2005 also from Liverpool John Moores University, with a particular research interest in ‘Stress and Coping in Student Nurses'.

Kate has also completed the mentors and assessors course and hold a Certificate of Professional Development in Clinical Intensive Care of Children.

Kate completed her Post Graduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education in 2008 and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Kate gained a SEDA Award in Action Research (Mentoring in Higher Education) and ILM 3 First Line Management in 2010.

Kate is currently working towards her PhD with a particular interest in the out-of-school lives of physically disabled children and young people.
