IHR Conference 2011
We are delighted to invite you to attend LJMU’s Institute for Health Research Annual Conference 2011, entitled ‘The Many Paths to Patient Benefit’. The Event will take place on the 21st June 2011 at Liverpool John Moores Art and Design Academy.
The conference programme should have broad appeal and aims to consider diverse aspects of research that contribute to health and social care and the patient journey.
This year, Alison Chappel, a member of the Health Experience Research Group in the Department of Primary Health Care at the University of Oxford will address the conference. She will provide insights into www.healthtalkonline.org, a website that lets you share in more than 2,000 people's experiences of health and illness. This web portal is based upon in-depth qualitative research into over 40 different illnesses and health conditions; it is aimed at patients, their carers, family and friends, doctors, nurses and other health professionals. Alison will speak about the benefits that a tool such as this can bring to patients and healthcare providers.
We are also pleased to be joined by Geoff Wainwright from Liverpool based 2Bio Limited. Geoff’s expertise lies in the life sciences, having previously worked in the pharmaceutical industry, and he will speak about the interface between bio-based organisations and Universities. He is also involved in the Liverpool BioCampus www.liverpoolbiocampus.com and will describe some of the future plans of this partnership, and how the knowledge created as part of it will help to deliver benefits to patients.
Attendees will have opportunity to network, attend workshops and read posters produced by LJMU research students and staff.
