Dr Elizabeth Smears  is a Senior Lecturer in the Centre for Professional Learning. She is Centre Research Coordinator and Faculty Coordinator for Equality and Diversity. Her research interests are wellbeing & creativity, physicality, inclusion and learning. She is principal investigator for an Esmée Fairbairn funded research project on creativity. She leads the Arts Based Enquiry Research Group in the Faculty of Education and is a member of CERES. Lizzie joined LJMU in 2006 from being a freelance consultant in health, community and education. Prior to this she lectured at Leeds Metropolitan University where the focus of her work was on inclusion and embodiment. She completed her PhD in 2001 which explored physicality and gender. She currently holds an Honorary Lectureship at the University of Liverpool and is a Visiting Fellow at the International Institute of Qualitative Inquiry, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, USA.
