Chronic Pain
Research in this area has focussed on musculoskeletal and neuropathic chronic pain. Research links with The Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery and The Pain Research Institute have led to the development of a quality of life measure specifically for neuropathic pain and work is ongoing to test this questionnaire in patients undergoing different treatments. Current projects also include: determination of psychosocial predictors of outcome to a pain management programme; patients views on Complex Regional Pain Syndrome and its treatment; individual differences in the perception of pain in post surgery neonates.
