Why have LJMU introduced Microsoft SharePoint?
Microsoft SharePoint was initially introduced to LJMU as the Workgroup Collaboration Project
Rationale
The university has, for a long time, used tools such as Microsoft Office for the production of a large and varied number of documents. However, there was a clear need to enhance these applications to facilitate group working, information sharing, document organisation and thus improve organisational efficiency.
Current environments used by teams across the university, such as file shares, are usually labour intensive or require intervention by PLN, for example, in their creation, ongoing maintenance and access. Through the use of a web based interface, Microsoft SharePoint empowers the user in the control, and use, of the complete collaborative experience.
