Student Profile
India
Ron Jacob from India, who is a first year student on the undergraduate BSc Biotechnology programme.
" I have been interested in Biotechnology since I was very young and I have always been attracted to Laboratory work and particularly research. I had heard from my previous tutors, that the BSc Biotechnology programme at Liverpool John Moores University was an up and coming course so I really wanted to come here. There was also the attraction of obtaining a foreign degree, which is held in high regard back home. After I have completed my undergraduate programme, I hope to stay on at Liverpool John Moores University and do a Post Graduate degree in Industrial Biotechnology and continue my research. Eventually I would like to go back to India so that I can work there and conduct my own personal research".
"I really love being a student in Liverpool and at LJMU, the facilities for Laboratory work are excellent, and the city is a really fun place to be for students. Because there are so many students here there is lots going on, the students union is always very lively, especially when football is being shown. And I feel that with all the shops, clubs, museums and theatres, Liverpool is a cool place for International students".
"One of the best things about the university is the academic staff. They are always very helpful, and encourage us to ask questions to make sure we fully understand the topic that is being taught. They are very committed to meeting the needs of all the students. There is a positive atmosphere whenever classes are being conducted and the lecturers give us opportunities to do group work, which improves our communication skills and enables us to learn from each other. It is also a great way to make lots of friends".
