Organisational role and responsibilities
Caroline is a Senior Law Lecturer and Part-time Admissions Tutor and heads Writing and Drafting on the skills course of the Legal Practice Course. Caroline is also Head of Commercial Property and part of the teaching team for Solicitors’ Accounts, Business Accounts and Property Law and Practice.
Caroline qualified as a solicitor in October 1989 and worked, until September 2002, as a commercial property lawyer at a number of North West firms including DLA and Hill Dickinson. This involved corporate support work, working for the Merseyside Development Corporation in the regeneration of Liverpool City Centre and for a high profile brewer, which involved knowledge of licensing law and club law. She has been involved in a large number of commercial transactions including retail site development and redevelopment from the planning stage up. She has a special interest in commercial leases – both drafting and amendment.
Prior to joining LJMU in 2004, Caroline taught years 1 to 4 ILEX at Southport College. Caroline completed her PG Cert LTHFE in 2005 and her LL.M in Legal Practice in 2010. She has been a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy since March 2007 and recently qualified as an interpersonal mediator in November 2012 . Caroline works part time as she also has a consultancy role advising on commercial property at a local solicitors’ firm; ensuring she stays current and up-to-date. She is married to a local solicitor and has two children, a dog and two horses.
