Organisational Role and Responsibilities

Sally is a Senior Lecturer in Law on the Legal Practice Course.  She is subject leader for the Client in the Community elective and part of the teaching team for Business Law and Practice, Family Law, Professional Conduct, Writing and Drafting, Interviewing and Advocacy.

External Roles

She is a Non-Executive Director at Aintree NHS Foundation Trust Hospital and an external examiner appointed by the SRA.

Biography
 

Sally Merriman qualified as a nurse before studying at The London School of Economics and The College of Law. She qualified as a Solicitor in 1996. In private practice Sally initially dealt with medical negligence matters, then family law and public childcare law. She was involved with pioneering projects such as ‘Zero Tolerance’ to domestic violence, and for a number of years advised Barnado’s Children’s Charity on a pro bono basis.

Sally held a post as a University Research Fellow in the law affecting small and medium sized businesses, and helped set-up information sessions for small businesses.

Sally has published two articles, one about mental illness and the law; the second concerns the law affecting small businesses. Sally was also co-author on a pamphlet designed to give guidance to Women’s Aid and Victim Support.

Sally joined the LPC Team in 2002 and works part-time.  Sally is Subject Leader for the Client in the Community elective. She is a member of the teaching team for Business Law and Practice, Writing and Drafting, PCR and Advocacy.
