LJMU Law Society

The Liverpool John Moores University Student Law Society is the largest student society in the Liverpool Students' Union. The aim of the society is to bring together the student body, enriching their time at university through social and professional events, making new, lifelong friends and supporting each other during and beyond study. The student law society is run by students for students, with each year members electing fellow students they wish to see run their society.

The society organises various social and academic support events throughout the year, with non-members welcome also. Such activities include meet and greet parties for newly arrived students, helping them to settle in to their new surroundings, trips to European cities, fundraising events for charity, and culminating in the lavish annual law ball, a sumptuous black tie event to remember.

In addition to social activities the society also help to enhance the employability of graduating LJMU law students with a range of academic and professional activities, including mooting competitions, meet and greets with local legal professionals, and visits to Inns of Court in London, allowing students to gain a flavour of the profession they may wish to join. Some of the recent projects that the Society has been involved with are:

• Trips abroad to Amsterdam.
• Fun-filled social events.
• Charity fundraisers for Macmillan Cancer Support and Amnesty International.
• Extra Curricular mooting competitions.
• Barrister and Solicitor evenings.
• Trips to the Inns of Court and court visits.
• The fabulous, annual end-of-year Law Ball.
