Teaching -

John teaches the Law of Obligations I, II and III on the core LL.B. and options in Media Law and Medical Law I.

Administrative - 

John Cooke is the Law School's representative for the Society of Legal Scholars (SLS). He also sits on the School’s Research Committee.

External Roles -

John is a media law consultant to a leading firm of solicitors and is a member of the Editorial Board of the Liverpool Law Review (Deborah Charles Publications). He is an external examiner in law at the Universities of Nottingham Trent and De Montfort.

Research Interests -

His research interests lie in the law of Obligations, especially the law of Tort and in Media Law, particularly defamation and contempt.

He has presented numerous academic and professional papers and published widely in these areas.

Publications -

Books

He is the author (with Oughton) of The Common Law of Obligations (3rd edition, Butterworths, 2000) and The Law of Tort (8th edition, Pitman, 2007)
