LPC Special Graduation Ceremony 2007

The LPC at LJMU held its annual Graduation ceremony in October. As always, it was an event which focussed on the achievements of the graduates.

It was an opportunity for families to meet staff  in the restored splendour of the Moot Room in the John Foster Building.

The speakers this year were HHJ David Fletcher, who presides over the innovative North Liverpool Community Court, Ann Heseltine, Deputy Chair of Liverpool Law Society, and Jean Harkin, of Harkin Lloyd Solicitors, winner of the Legal Firm of the Year Award 2007, and recently appointed Deputy Coroner.

Jean Harkin spoke warmly of her time on the LPC at JMU, and joined with the other speakers in wishing the graduates happiness and success in their future careers.

The graduates are joining international, national, regional and local firms. They are well placed, with the support of the LPC Solicitor Mentor Scheme, and the Careers Department of LJMU, to find employment in every field of law.

Team leader Anita Ellis said, "This has been an exceptional year. We have achieved higher levels of distinctions and commendations than ever before. This is due to the very impressive hard work of our students, and the hard work and expertise of our staff. It helps that we know our students' names, and have all the resources of LJMU for our students to draw on. Jean Harkin is an example of a solicitor whose success has been founded on the LPC at JMU. We are delighted she is here tonight as a role model for our graduates."
