Since 1994 I have worked at Liverpool John Moores University as a part-time lecturer in Product Design. At the present time I am teaching material related to the Market Context of Products. I am particularly interested in Plain English and skills in reading and writing.
Research activity has included a three year Research Fellowship at Liverpool University School of Architecture on Shaker Design. This long term project culminated in the publication of a book entitled Selling Shaker (Liverpool University Press) in 2007.
Current research features the material culture of Mulberry trees. This long term study includes analysis (using a standard model) of Mulberry products in the United Kingdom and Japan. This covers Change over Space - Change over Time - Maker and Marketplace - Technique and Technology - Form and Mood - Message and Symbol.
