Creative Writing Graduates

Students have enjoyed a wide range of placements, connected with their writing careers both directly (writing residencies, fashion magazines, fanzines, advertising agencies, and newspapers) and indirectly (working, for example, for a private investigation agency, a circus, and a Buffy convention).

As well as providing a stimulating, creative experience and a skills base for the technical handling of different kinds of writing, Creative Writing enriches students’ handling of language in a variety of professional contexts. The degree is suitable for a number of careers such as journalism, teaching, publishing and the book trade, broadcasting and postgraduate study. For those intent on pursuing their writing in the future, this route offers an ideal foundation in technical skills together with a creative environment for individual development.
