Interactive Media Department

Interactive media
is overwhelmingly a visually rich medium, combining design, computer technology, video, animation, 3D modelling, sound, and digital games. New and emerging devices are transforming our definitions of media, blurring the boundaries between consumption and production, between information, communication and entertainment, and unsettling the apparent distinctions between spectator, user and producer.

The interactive media department of the Liverpool Screen School, through research and education, focuses on how people in social, business and consumer environments interact and gain knowledge from that interaction. How people participate and play with narrative at home, at work, in education and public spaces.

The interactive media department of the Liverpool Screen School can promise an enthusiastic and engaged student body working closely with new media practitioners in a professional environment with well-established industry links. The department has links with several local new media production companies and organizations including: Conker Media, Evolution Studios, Mando Group, Splinter Design, FACT.

Our graduates have gone on to employment in digital games companies, mobile content development, new media design houses, a range of major media and entertainment organisations including the BBC, Apple and Mersey TV, as well as working successfully as freelance designers, artists and developers.
