MA in Internet and Communication Studies

The MA in Internet and Communication Studies examines the relationships between new technologies, cultural changes, identities and media institutions. Our seminars, workshops and research events introduce the students to contemporary theoretical debates surrounding development within the field, including topics such as gendered, racial and sexual identities; virtual diasporas and cybernationalism; on-line communities and politics; globalisation and the digital divide; blogging and net-art; privacy and surveillance; cybercrime and cyberconflict; on-line gaming and social networking.

We offer our students a variety of learning experiences, designed to create a critical awareness of new media and Internet studies. Students will consolidate their understanding of the complex and pervasive cultures of the production and consumption of new media texts.
