Growing up in a Friends web-community

My ongoing study on the sitcom, Friends and web-community, Friendscafe suggests that young fans are growing up and becoming mature with the show and the site. I ask: what does it means to ‘become an adult’ with a sitcom and a web-community? Do fans grow up with the show and the community? How do they do that? What happens to their identities? (As youth as fans? As men and women? As gays and straight? As citizens?) I intend to be answering these questions by looking at their ongoing discussion in the forum.
