BSc. Forensic Anthropology

MaxillaeForensic Anthropology is the description and identification of human remains for medico-legal purposes. The BSc (Hons) in Forensic Anthropology prepares students to identify human remains and gives students the scientific background to understand and document their discovery, context and recovery.

We examine human biology and anatomy with an eye to reconstructing the identity of the individual. Techniques of identifying soils and the outdoor contexts in which human remains are recovered are taught, as are basic forensic, microscope and photographic techniques.

Students will also study the legal basis of forensic testimony and the processes used by law enforcement to ensure the integrity of scientific evidence.
