Paul O'Grady becomes Honorary Fellow
"Always be true to yourself", he advises students
"Be true to yourself" and "always stand up for yourself". Just two of the pieces of advice Paul O'Grady gave graduates during LJMU's final graduation ceremony on Friday 22 July. The other two being "never steal anything you can't sell" or "mix cider and Pernod".During the ceremony , entertainer and TV personality, Paul O'Grady was made an Honorary Fellow of the University and his irreverent sense of humour was a great hit with graduates and guests.
During his acceptance speech he remarked that wherever he went in the world, from New York to Hong Kong, he always met someone from LJMU. They all, he said, had a great affection for Liverpool and LJMU and were all a bit quirky, too. He went on to thank LJMU for recognising him for a job he loved doing and one, he admitted, he was very lucky to get away with on TV.
