Katie Myers, a Real Estate Management student at LJMU, has won the North West regional final of the Association of Women in Property (WiP) National Student Awards 2009.
Katie, a part-time Level 2 student, competed against full-time students from other universities in the North West.
To compete, Katie’s Course Leader, Louise Kirsten, submitted a report on her academic ability and recommend her to the Board at WiP. Katie then had to deliver a presentation to a panel of experienced judges.
With her passion for the property industry and a will to succeed, Katie impressed the judges enough to win the £500 first prize, free membership of the Association and the opportunity to participate in the WiP mentoring programme.
Katie will now be competing in a gruelling day of interviews and presentations in the London final this September - along with three architects, a quantity surveyor, a building surveyor and project manager.
Lisa Raynes, North West WiP branch chairman, said: "This is a very tough competition, with the brightest and most impressive female property students being nominated and I would like to thank all of the students who took part. We are delighted for Katie and pleased she will represent the branch in the final."
Louise Kirsten commented: “I have every confidence that Katie will do her best and show the judges her drive and determination. She works exceptionally hard as a residential negotiation agent at a local company. She works long hours, including weekends, but always turns up for lectures and works exceptionally hard.”
“The Real Estate degree is challenging yet Katie takes it in her stride, she is a credit to our course.”
