Artists wanted by Topshop
19 August 2009
Topshop and Topman store are holding a competition to look for a local artist to design or graffiti their new store.
The creative directors of Topshop want to ensure the newly renovated store, opening on 17 September, has a real local flavour by giving the opportunity for talented and aspiring artists the chance to decorate the wall of the main central staircase from top to bottom.
There are five words that entrants should use as their inspiration for the design of the Topshop section: fashion, youth, colourful, stylish and avant garde.
For the Topman section the inspiration words are: authoritative, edgy, surprising, inspiring, vivid and sub-culture.
The winner will preferably have their own team of helpers – who will have five days to complete the wall. The store can provide an extra two people to help out if necessary.
The wall will need to be decorated between 10 – 15 September. Closing date for entries is 3 September. Entrants need to submit their design ideas on paper or disc by post to Gemma Boner at Colegrave House, 70 Berners Lee Street, London, W1T 3NL. Entries should be marked ‘Liverpool design competition’.
