Sino-British cultural exchange

27 August 2009

Ashley Middleton, a BA History of Art & Museum Studies student, has been invited to China at the request of the British Council and the Chinese Premier, Wen Jiabao, in order to build a Sino-British exchange on the theme of Culture and Creativity.

Ashley is one of 100 young people selected from the UK to take part in the exchenge. She was chosen as a future ‘young leader’ because of her relationship with the Tate and the arts on Merseyside. During her 11-day trip Ashley will be taking part in dialogue, debate and creating opportunities for future collaboration with her Chinese counterparts.

Programme Leader Dr Emma Roberts commented: "All the staff and students on the programme are proud of Ashley and we wish her a most enjoyable and rewarding visit to China."

"Ashley was also selected to undertake a prestigious internship at the Solomon R Guggenheim Museum in New York, and will be advising a museum in Nepal on their photography exhibition in December.  It is most pleasing to see that students from our programme are attracting such important international attention."
