Northern Ireland students choose LJMU
25 September 2009
LJMU’s popularity across the Irish Sea has grown again this year, with considerably more enrolments from Northern Ireland students than at any other university in England, Scotland or Wales – and also beating two of Northern Ireland’s own institutions.
Higher Education Statistics Agency figures show enrolments up 15% on the previous year, moving LJMU from fifth to fourth in the table of the most popular institutions.
Student Recruitment has developed strong relationships with teachers and pupils in Northern Ireland over a number of years. Last year Account Managers made almost 100 visits to schools and colleges, delivering presentations and workshops and attending Higher Education conventions. 50 school visits have already taken place in September to promote LJMU to this year’s prospective students.
New initiatives such as a residential taster week for Northern Ireland pupils and the first post-application open day held in Northern Ireland earlier this year should consolidate LJMU's position still further in the coming years.
