New Chaplains for LJMU

30 September 2009

On Friday 25 September a commissioning service was held in the Lady Chapel of the Anglican Cathedral for two new Anglican chaplains for LJMU.

Dr James Harding will be chaplain for students, whilst Canon Bob Lewis will be the first chaplain dedicated to staff and the institution.  The new chaplains will work closely not only with colleagues from the Methodist and Catholic Church to provide an ecumenical provision within LJMU, but also with Welfare Services and HR. The new appointments will also work with students and staff at the University of Liverpool

The chaplains are here to serve and help all members of the University – both staff and students.  They are able to offer friendship, conversation, pastoral care, spiritual support and guidance on matters of faith, belief and spirituality.

Whilst studying and working within the university, the chaplains would like to help you to explore what it means to relate belief to understanding and integrate faith with knowledge.  Further information and email links are available here: http://www.liverpool-anglican-chaplaincy.org/

Alongside these new appointments, the University is currently working on the strategy for chaplaincy support, in order that the existing student and new staff provision can work together effectively.  Details of events and provision will be available shortly.
