GERI researcher wins British Federation Women Graduates Travel Bursary.

Nina Wylie, from the RF and Microwave group of the General Engineering Research Institute (GERI), was awarded the North West Travel Bursary 2009 by the British Federation for Women Graduates (BFWG).

The bursary gives Nina the opportunity to attend the 1st International Conference on Welding Technologies held in Ankara, Turkey in June 2009.

Nina was also invited to be the speaker at the North West Region’s Annual Meeting for the BFWG held in New Brighton on Saturday 24 October 2009, where she gave a presentation on her research.

According to Evelyn Campbell Smith, the Travel Bursary Secretary for the North West region, the attending members had thoroughly enjoyed Nina’s talk and felt even more strongly that what she is doing is of immense potential benefit to the motor industry.  The BFWG have invited Nina back to speak again in March next year.
