The Role and Eligibility:

Eligibility for membership of the Board is set out in Annex 2 of the attached document - Role of Governor.  Any member of staff considering nomination to the Board must read this policy document, to understand the nature of the role, the commitment required as a Governor, and be capable of meeting all nomination criteria.  Further guidance can be obtained from Jeanette Wordsworth, Manager, Secretariat & Records Management, telephone extension 3116 or email to the Secretariat.

Nomination Forms from:

Lynn Sutcliffe, Secretariat & Records Management, Egerton Court, 2 Rodney Street, telephone extension 3550, or email secretariat@ljmu.ac.uk

Documentation Required:

Nominees must submit the following documents:

  • A completed Nominations form signed by the nominee and supported by two members of staff who can be full or part-time, but must include the nominee’s line manager.  The requirement for one of the supporters to be the line manager is to ensure that he/she is aware and fully supports the desire of the nominee to participate in the governance of the University.
  • A statement outlining how the nominee meets the eligibility criteria set out in Annex 2 of the document “Role of Governor”.  There is no prescribed format for the completion of the statement, but some candidates have found it helpful to consider the eligibility criteria as the person specification in a job application.  Advice on completion can be sought from the Manager, Secretariat & Records Management.

Should there be more than one nomination an Election will be held.
