Academic Records
23 November 2009
Academic is a new record label founded by LJMU Popular Music Studies students James Brown and Carlo Wittek under the Young Entrepreneurs Scheme.
Both students have been working in the music scene for a number of years as musicians, producers, event managers and promoters.
In exciting times for the music industry, Academic Records are ready to create an impact with an unconventional approach for their releases. Unlike traditional record labels Academic Records are set to release their music on vinyl and USB sticks only.
A key element of the Liverpool-based label is to work with and promote local artists and musical styles, as well as working with local businesses with the aim to establish strong links with like-minded local entrepreneurs and businesses.
The first release by Academic Records will be a compilation of local musicians with a set release date of spring 2010. The label is still looking for bands and artists from all genres to feature in the compilation and for future projects.
