Teaching in Japan
18 December 2009
Dr Tony Webster, Head of History in LJMU's School of Social Science, was invited to Japan recently to deliver a series of lectures around the subject of Britain's imperial history.
Tony was invited, and funded, by the Japanese Society for British Imperial & Commonwealth History - based at the University of Osaka.
In total Tony delivered four lectures - at Keio University in Tokyo, Toyama and two in Osaka.
Tony commented: "I was struck by the courtesy and kindness of all the people I met, the beautiful serenity of the Buddhist temples of Kyoto, and the fact that in spite of Japan's recession, it is still an ultra modern and thriving place."
