Work Related Learning Fair

03 March 2010

The Brokerage Team from the Graduate Development Centre organised LJMU's first Work Related Learning Fair, which was hosted this week at the Art & Design Academy.

The fair was open to students of all disciplines across all faculties, with the aim of helping them find work related learning for credit bearing modules or work experience to increase their employability skills and experience.

The event enabled charities and non-profit organisations who had work related learning opportunities to interact with students in an informal and friendly environment.

There were 12 organisations covering a range of industries including:

  • Liverpool Youth Offending Services
  • The Windows Project
  • C.A.L.M.
  • Merseyside Police
  • Business in the Community

Brokerages worked alongside the organisations to clarify the opportunities which were displayed at each exhibit table. The format of the event allowed students to approach the organisations that appealed to them, ensuring the employers were talking to genuinely interested students. The event was successful for both students and employers - several students have made new contacts and opportunities are to be undertaken.
