Malaysian Alumni Dinner
05 March 2010
The 2010 Malaysian Alumni Dinner saw a record of over 200 Alumni attending the event, which brought together LJMU Alumni who graduated in the last three decades.
The dinner, organised in conjunction with the Malaysian Alumni Committee, was held in the grand Nirwana Ballroom, Crowne Plaza Mutiara Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.
The Alumni were delighted to meet up with friends, former course mates and the academics who taught them. With a live Chinese New Year lion dance, a 'photographic memories of LJMU' competition and a 'How Well Do You Know LJMU and Liverpool' quiz, it was clear everyone had a great time.
Mark Williams, Alumni Relations Manager, was Master of Ceremonies for the evening and welcomed the guests by wishing them a Happy Chinese New Year in Mandarin. Following the welcome, LJMU Vice-Chancellor Professor Michael Brown CBE shared a future vision of LJMU, including its World of Work programme and the importance of keeping in touch with the University via the Alumni website.
Jeffrey Soong, Regional Director of the LJMU South East Asian Office, introduced Harvin Kumar, President of the Malaysian Alumni Committee and his Committee members. This was followed by a short video presentation from the Committee which highlighted their reasons for helping to contribute towards the dinner and staying involved in the life of LJMU.
The evening was a fantastic success and many Alumni stayed up late to catch up on old times and network.
