Suggestion Scheme winner
08 March 2010
In June 2008, Darren Smith from CIS submitted a suggestion to the University's Suggestion Scheme regarding tax-free cycles for staff.
This idea was evaluated by Catherine Nevin, Human Resources Manager, and it was recommended that the scheme should be introduced after the implementation of Staff Infobase.
Consequently on 23 November 2009, the University was able to announce the implementation of a Salary Sacrifice Scheme for staff in conjunction with Cyclescheme Ltd. This aligns with the Government's Cycle to Work initiative and shows LJMU's continued commitment to a sustainable travel plan. The scheme enables employees to make savings of between 30-50% on cycles and accessories depending on their personal tax band.
Darren Smith received a £50 reward for submitting a suggestion that has been successfully undertaken by the University.
