LJMU alumni joined Professor, the Lord Alton of Liverpool, Vice-Chancellor, Professor Michael Brown and Honorary Fellows for an evening drinks reception in the Cholmondeley Room at the House of Lords on Thursday 29 April.

Lord Alton, Director of LJMU’s Foundation for Citizenship welcomed everyone to the House of Lords before Professor Brown conveyed the significant progress LJMU continues to make by addressing graduate employability challenges through its World of Work strategy.

Professor Tim Cable, Director of the School of Sport and Exercise Sciences talked about the School, its successful sports scholars, and pointed out that 85% of all research from the School is internationally recognised and rated.

During the evening guests enjoyed drinks, canapés and demonstrations such as cycling simulators and heart monitoring equipment. When the reception ended, guests were invited for a behind the scenes tour of the House of Lords.

It was an excellent event which was enjoyed by guests and raised money for LJMU’s successful Sports Scholarship scheme. A selection of photographs can be seen in the photo gallery.

At the event, the Vice-Chancellor reiterated the University’s commitment to staying in contact with its alumni. If you are a former LJMU student and would like to keep in touch with us, register to join the Alumni Association at http://www.alumni.ljmu.ac.uk/members/register.asp
