LJMU launches new DBA

27 June 2010

Liverpool Business School is proud to announce the launch of the first home DBA programme in September 2010.

The DBA programme is designed to validate the competence in professional practice of people working in business and management related areas at the highest academic level.

The programme draws on a wide range of staff from across the Faculty of Business and Law to support the programme, allowing potential applicants a range of study areas within the business and management related arena. It is delivered by the Liverpool Business School (LBS), which has a portfolio of programmes for postgraduate research.  Staff are currently engaged in research into governance, leadership, knowledge management, finance, business administration and management development.

The DBA programme provides a blend of taught, action-learning sets and individual research.

The programme is aimed at senior, experienced professionals who are qualified in their own areas of professional practice. The Doctorate will appeal to those who are looking for a challenge and want to pursue the highest academic qualification that will lead to new areas of professional practice.

The DBA carries the same status as the traditional PhD, which both lead to a D-level (Doctorate) qualification.  However, the DBA provides participants with greater added value in relation to the way it is structured and delivered as well as the participant’s experience whilst studying on the programme.

Entry onto the programme requires candidates who are well qualified in their chosen field and who possess a business related Masters degree (e.g. MBA) or equivalent qualification, supplemented with sufficient recent business and management experience appropriate to the research being undertaken. The admissions process requires the submission of an initial proposal for subsequent investigation.
