At LJMU we are proud to be home to a prestigious Skillset Media Academy - a centre of excellence in creative media disciplines which provides cutting edge, industry relevant training. The UK's Creative Media sector is one of the highest–qualified in the UK economy – 58 per cent of people have a bachelor's degree. Yet many industry experts believe that too many students are leaving further and higher education without the practical skills needed to go straight into the workforce. The Sector Skills Council for Creative Media has launched a new campaign - 'Pick the Tick' to promote courses and institutions that have passed Skillset's rigorous industry-led accreditation process. The Tick is a valuable tool for prospective students and also the media industry as it provides a simple guide for employers looking for graduates who are ready to enter the creative media workforce with the skills and experience necessary to make a real contribution from their first day.
